Case Study 1
Five Suezmax tankers constructed in South Korea

Overview
Ensuring the safety of a series of Suezmax tankers constructed in a leading South Korean yard. SeaQuest was awarded the management of a shipbuilding contract for five 158,000 DWT Suezmax crude oil tankers. The shipowner’s main priority was on the safety features of the vessels being built.

Action/Risk Mitigation
To provide the shipowner with peace of mind SeaQuest began with a kick-off meeting to discuss the safety issues at hand. With the information presented, and our knowledge and expertise, a project specific safety plan was prepared, fully compliant with regulations.

We operate under a short chain of command to ensure fast action and assigned a safety inspector dedicated to the project. A safety audit was conducted within builder's premises, as well as at the subcontractor’s work site, prior to any work commencing. Our safety inspector was on site every day monitoring the project for any safety issues, reporting back to the site manager.

This project was meticulously planned from start to finish and all five tankers were delivered to the owner with a 100% safety record.
